Chartered Accountant Tim McOmish

Welcome Chartered Accountant Tim McOmish!
As a Chartered Accountant, Tim McOmish supports our clients in all things tax, be that income tax, tax returns, fringe benefits, activity statements, financial reporting as well as tax compliance for a broad array of small and medium sized businesses.

Tim McOmish"Dad was solicitor and I seemed to fall into accounting," says Tim. "I got into business school at university and really found my feet there."

"I enjoy the work and helping people, especially at tax time when having a decent understanding of all the tax rules and regimes can be put to practical use to create good outcomes for our clients."

An experienced Senior Accountant, Tim is also involved in Collins Hume's own transition to an upgraded accounting system, which has had knock-on effects for how we work with our clients.

"We're working on switching over to a better accounting system," says Tim. "It's worth doing knowing both our clients and we will benefit in the long run."

To make sure work doesn't become too taxing, Tim plays golf, is a Star Wars tragic and reckons he's not a bad cook. He enjoys watching rugby league (Parramatta Eels) and cricket being Hon Treasurer of Ballina Bears Cricket Club.

"Collins Hume's difference is that there's a more family-oriented environment which I enjoy and good bunch of people," Tim added. "Supporting worthy causes and getting our community involved is good for everyone and it's great to be a part of that."

Brock Lindsay B Bus (Acc), JP, Xero Certified Adviser

Introducing new Collins Hume Accountant, Brock Lindsay

Collins Hume's newest Accountant Brock Lindsay had a hunch that he was good at problem-solving and working with numbers, but it was only when he helped a mate expand his barbershop into a thriving business (replete with whisky bar) that confirmed accounting was the place he wanted to be.

Brock LindsayIt helped that, from an early age, Brock's dad Allan had cautioned him that being an accountant would be easier than being a mechanic!

"Being an accountant is always a challenge," says Brock. "There are new and interesting issues to learn about plus ways to help people get the best out of their businesses, so dad was right!"

Kelly Crethar B Bus, CPA, Xero Certified Advisor

Meet Collins Hume Accountant, Kelly

Accountant Kelly Crethar's Collins Hume start date has a mellifluous ring to it – 17/7/17 – so it's good that the self-confessed 'obsessive number lover and problem solver' can translate most figures into real-world terms.

Kelly CretharKelly is a business services specialist working directly with business owners or supporting the Partners on client planning, acquisitions, valuations and even advising on payroll and fringe benefits matters.

She has a solid grounding in 'doing the books' – first in the family business whilst at university, then graduating to trainee accountant in a firm that allowed her to hone her business services and management accounting skills. In another accounting role, she was exposed to international acquisitions for which the firm was recognised.

She loves being able to interpret financials into information business owners can grasp.

"Everything has a number answer to a degree that is relatable to real life and I love working with people and really like being able to help business owners or couples translate the numbers into language they can understand," says Kelly.
